The Water Habitat of Alexandria, Inc., CENLA’s Premier Dive Center, is located at the corner of Bolton and Shirland Avenues in Alexandria, Louisiana. At The Water Habitat, we strive to provide new and experienced divers with the excitement of the underwater world… Adventure abounds from the bayous to the tropics and it all starts here! From learning to dive, to outfitting yourself, or embarking on a diving adventure, our experienced staff is ready to assist!!

The Water Habitat has started selling/renting Kayaks. We currently offer Cobra brand sit-on-top kayaks. We intend to offer tours of the local area waterways enabling sightseeing, photography, fishing, and even scuba diving from kayaks. (Some people can actually stand up in some of the kayaks.)

Kayak evening (Fri.) - Moonrise/Sunset combo

Join us Friday, May 24th for a double sight. Both an ALMOST full moon rising (approximately 7:50 pm) and sun setting (approx. 8:05 pm).

We will launch the kayaks around 6:30pm for a relaxing paddle as the sun begins it’s descent into the night yet continues to light the sky with the help of a gorgeous (nearly) full moon (waxing gibbous, actually). (With proper participation from the weather.)

Date - Friday, May 24th
Location - To be determined
Cost - $45 per person (includes sit-on-top kayak with seatback, paddle, adult p.f.d.)*, $20pp if you bring your own kayak

*Flashlights required (Bring a headlamp if you have one)
*Be sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet.
*Recommended - towel and change of clothes, waterproof camera, waterproof bag (to protect camera/valuables), waterproof flashing light marker, drinking water/snacks

Annual Underwater Golf Ball Hunt

- Location: Toledo Bend (near Cypress Bend State Park)
(Make-up date previously scheduled in May)

Throughout the year, hundreds, if not thousands of innocent golf balls are hit into the waters of Toledo Bend. Most are unintentional, sadly, some are viciously and intentionally forced there. It’s time for local divers to rescue them before they’re water-logged!

SCHEDULE:
8:30 am - Depart from The Water Habitat (for those who want to follow or carpool with others).
11:00 - Teams on board the scuba transport to dive site for finding the submerged golf balls (45 minute time limit in water)
- Hamburgers, chips and drink after the dive
- Door prizes (sorry, no real doors)

COST: Divers - $15.00 each, Non-divers $5.00
DIVE LEADER: Carlos Johnson, SSI Instructor
LOCATION: Stony Creek Dr. (Near Cypress Bend State Park)

-ALERT- Limited visibility dive. This is a good dive to work on your neutral buoyancy skills to stay off the bottom. With a bunch of divers digging/feeling around, sediment will get stirred up. Equipment familiarity is key. Not only is this a fun excuse to get wet, it enhances your diving skill level and you’ll feel good knowing you rescued some innocent golf balls from the watery depths of Toledo Bend to potentially give them another chance at the glory of a hole in one.

GET SCUBA CERTIFIED! Take our Open Water SCUBA Certification Class to get started as a licensed SCUBA diver.

Experience the thrill of a whole new world by taking our beginning scuba class. Receive a certification card (c-card) upon completion of the course and start on the path to diving adventure.

This class starts Wednesday, June 3rd at 6pm and will meet two nights a week for three weeks (Mon/Wed evenings)
Includes classroom and pool instruction.

Checkout dives to be scheduled after.

-Boat beings boarding at 5 am, leaves from Acadiana Marina (Pecan Island) at 5:30 am and is back at the dock around 6pm.
-Diver provides three cylinders and own dive computer** (Rentals available.)
-$250 per diver
